Oct 5th: maraa brings in Theatre Jam!

SUNDAY JAM is a uniquely informal musician’s meet that is part of an on-going endeavor by Guruskool (regd) to support musicians

Every first Sunday of the month, music bands meet at Guruskool’s farm space in Nelamangala (about a few km away from Bangalore city) to share, perform and jam

maraa would like to introduce theatre to the SUNDAY JAM and a culture of THEATRE JAM to the space

Theatre artists will meet at the space to present short solos they have worked on

the idea is to create a space for short performances

Self-written texts, ideas, concepts and improvisations

maraa is looking at this as a community driven activity

We also hope that dialogues and discussions will accompany these performances

on October 5th at the SUNDAY JAM we hope to meet at the farm in Nelamangala around noon and organically unwind

Support the idea by riding out there, engaging with performers and thus supporting theatre spirit. We understand it’s a bit of a ride out, but like Guruskool maintains, Bangaloreans have always loved driving out of the city and its time to ignite that old Bangalore spirit!

Really looking forward to seeing you all!

[PS: If you are a performer and wish to perform, get in touch! These will be open performances that are self devised and can last anywhere between 5 seconds to 15 minutes. At present we are trying to keep it to 10 solos so we can linger and experience these performances. If we have around 10 such that are already confirmed, we will list yours for the next month’s first Sunday. Call us for details about transport, food, day layout, etc. Requesting you to RSVP so we can get food organized]

Post script- The Theatre Jam went off quite well actually, and we’ve published some responses from performers, audiences and so on. Click here to read more about it!

Its certainly been quite a journey to discover larger interests and life’s calling. Yes, I almost, always think that way and have a obessive compulsive disorder in figuring out relevance and purpose to everything. Try to do it creatively though. Its good to talk about interests and areas of intrigue rather than pursuits of the past. My current areas of interest lie in everything that will merge, or is seeking to merge, socio-economic aspects of science and research, scientific approach to the arts, creative governance practices…you get the picture. The underlying thread I believe is creativity. Recognising old patterns, cleaning them out and moving forward. Using media creatively, using it to demystify our collective selves and identities…these are a few of my favorite phrases
