Theatre Jam in March

Theatre Jam happens, this time on the second Sunday of the month. Good timing too, with the BBMP elections taking place on the 28th. One hopes that some of the art work, performances or anything that comes out of this jam, can be fed in to the people’s manifesto, which is being presented publicly on the 15th of March!

A pedagogical journey

Most of Maraa’s pedagogical search began from art, gender, knowledge, media, education, development and policy questions we had ourselves, and through these, our want to engender dialogue and critical questioning within spaces of disciplines, learning, practice and philosophy. Since most of our background, approaches and interests are interdisciplinary, the models for pedagogy were also drawn [...]

Rootless Rituals

For four weeks in February the contemporary body & choreography team Salon-Emmer of Austria lead and participated in various movement exercises in public spaces across the city of Bangalore. One such exercise was inspired by the many changes happening in the city and the subsequent loss of trees that have been cut down for the widening of roads and building of the new metro system. “Rootless Rituals” happened in several locations by a small group of people to initiate dialogue and to mourn the increasing loss of green-space in the city.

While all this happens, Maraa also [...]

Passwords and emails will be sent to performers and participants who [...]

Theatre review: The City of Gardens

The City of Gardens (a Center for Film & Drama production) was staged in the city of Bangalore recently and seemed to promise a lot and invite you in. No, not in terms of publicity- I didn’t know about it until I landed at Rangashankara’s café for a meeting.
Though I do recount [...]

Art on radio

Art today is considered officially divorced from perceptions of development. Maraa wants to bridge gaps between creative expression and concepts of social justice. This helps address communities in their multi dimensionality, therefore helping us to move away from the trend of approaching people are mere cardboard cut outs, and bound to specific NGO projects.
We hope [...]
