Theatre Jam happens, this time on the second Sunday of the month. Good timing too, with the BBMP elections taking place on the 28th. One hopes that some of the art work, performances or anything that comes out of this jam, can be fed in to the people’s manifesto, which is being presented publicly on the 15th of March!
For four weeks in February the contemporary body & choreography team Salon-Emmer of Austria lead and participated in various movement exercises in public spaces across the city of Bangalore. One such exercise was inspired by the many changes happening in the city and the subsequent loss of trees that have been cut down for the widening of roads and building of the new metro system. “Rootless Rituals” happened in several locations by a small group of people to initiate dialogue and to mourn the increasing loss of green-space in the city.
The City of Gardens (a Center for Film & Drama production) was staged in the city of Bangalore recently and seemed to promise a lot and invite you in. No, not in terms of publicity- I didn’t know about it until I landed at Rangashankara’s café for a meeting.
